While better known world-wide for its beaches, resorts, and vibrant nightlife, Miami’s becoming a world-class city that promotes many opportunities for fine-living. The city’s ample green spaces, assortment of eclectic neighborhoods and clean streets make it ideal for a variety of leisurely and recreational activities.
A write at the Miami Urbanist, a local website that discuss Miami-related topics, highlights the allure of Upper East Side Miami, which is part of the city’s urban core.
One of my favorite Miami neighborhoods to bike around has to be Morningside. Located in the Upper Eastside of Miami it is one of the oldest neighborhoods in the city. Morningside was a planned subdivision with tree-lined boulevards that sprang up in the 1920’s with a predominantly Mediterranean Revival style of architecture. Homes built in the 1930s and early 1940s have a more Art Deco flavor.
Back in 20’s and 30’s it must have been a community that attracted many influential and prominent local residents. Some of the homes are simply huge, with a several dozen-waterfront mansions and even handful of villas. According to StreetEasy there are currently 12 homes on the market in Morningside with prices ranging from $399,000 to $7,450,000.
The historic district only covers the north half of Morningside though. The southern half, from 50th to 55th street, was developed much later. It’s still a nice neighborhood, but the houses are much more anonymous and moderately sized.
Not enough can be said about Morningside Park. Perhaps one of the greatest waterfront parks in Miami- it is a true hidden gem. The facilities are fantastic and include baseball/softball diamond, basketball court, tennis center, and playground. The park also has boat and jet ski loading access along with numerous park programs geared for all ages.
If this historic and charming community is pleasant to pass through, imagine living there? Morningside and neighborhoods like it have much to offer. These Miami Properties are some of the most sought-after in the market, and for good reason: they offer a quality of life that can’t be found anywhere else, while their central location puts you close to the city’s world-renowned attractions.
