The Design District, located in the heart of Miami-Dade between Midtown and North Miami, is quickly gaining a national reputation as a hub of artistic and architectural achievement. This fast-growing and dynamic community is living up to its name with the creation of an increasing number of innovative designs – and even its playgrounds are reflecting radically new artistic developments.
Set to be completed in 2014, the “Klein-Bottle Playground” is going to be a permanent installation that will give children their first recreational space, which is well-needed in the highly urbanized district. Uniquely, it is based upon a theoretical mathematical formula that will lend a distinct and aesthetic appearance that also maximizes space and activity. As described in Curbed.com, it will consist of “a series of tubes [that] extend out from and into a central sphere, such that children can climb in, through and on top.”
This remarkable project is being undertaken by Acconci Studio, the design firm of world-renowned artist Vito Acconci. Among his studio’s widely recognized works are a Coney Island subway station with an avant-garde shape and the famous facade of the Storefront for Art and Architecture in New York City (done in collaboration with architect Steven Holl). Acconci Studio was also named 2012 Designer of the Year by international art show Design Miami, which commissioned the group to build the playground.
This will be one of many artistic accomplishments that are redefining Miami’s global reputation as a center for creativity and dynamism. It’s for this reason that Design District Real Estate, which is at the heart of this development, is so widely sought after. Metro 1 Properties is the leading realtor in this hot property, and will be more than happy to help you get a slice of one of the most exciting communities in the country.
