Metro 1’s Alex Rey Named Chairman of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce’s Banking and Financial Services Committee

Alex Rey, Director of Metro 1 Capital, has been named to the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Effective June 9, 2014, Rey will serve a two-year term as the Chairman of the Banking and Financial Services Committee.

In his new capacity, Rey will be responsible for advancing the banking community’s interests, educating and providing input into regulation being led by the newly-formed Consumer Finance Protection Bureau (CFPB) and for building upon information sharing partnerships among South Florida community banks, among other duties.

Rey’s extensive banking and finance experience also translates to success in his position as Director of Metro 1 Capital, the capital division of Metro 1, Miami’s leading forward-thinking full-service real estate organization. Metro 1 Capital provides equity and debt placement advisory services for commercial real estate transactions regardless of size and complexity.
A commercial banker for 13 years, Rey served as President of the former International Bank under a Trust Agreement with the FDIC while also serving as Senior Vice President and Head of the National Division of the Bank of Miami. For ten years, he served as Vice President of Acquisitions and Asset Management of Zaremba Corporation, a National Real Estate Developer. Prior to joining Metro 1, he had been actively involved in real estate development and served as an advisor to major local and national institutions.
Rey is a graduate of the Graduate and National Commercial Lending School at the University of Oklahoma, School of Banking of the South at LSU, and is a Certified Commercial Lender. He is also an active member of the Doral Business Council as Chair of the Real Estate Committee and the South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce’s Business Committee.
