Developers of Wynwood Central have signed a deal with Alchemy & Science, a subsidiary of Samuel Adams parent Boston Beer, to open a brewery called Concrete Beach near the project.
The brewery will produce a number of different styles of craft beer on draft for local distribution and will follow up 90-120 days later with bottled beer.
The brewery will be housed in an old warehouse building in the heart of the Arts District. Construction is scheduled to be complete by the end of December. Concrete Beach not only plans to brew at its Wynwood location, but it will also house a meeting hall to serve and sample its beers, provide brewery tours, and become an active supporter of the Wynwood Arts District by hosting cultural arts events.
The brewery will open in 11,300 square feet of space at 325 NW 24th Street that is currently being renovated. It will create 36 full time permanent jobs.
Construction at Wynwood Central, which includes a mix of new construction along with renovation of older buildings, is already underway. The project is expected to be complete by next year. Plans include 81 live/work units, 360 parking spaces, and 95,000 square feet of retail, restaurant, office and art gallery space.
The developers are requesting $3 million in public funding for the construction of public parking, utilities, new pedestrian walkways and roadway improvements.
The developers inaccurately used Samuel Adams as the name of the establishment in their request for economic development subsidies from the County. The project will only include a brewery; A restaurant that was listed in the application will not be included ‘at this time,’ according to a publicist.
